The basic idea is that now that they know what the problem is, they can warn the cereal characters that a crisis is coming, so that they can be prepared to back the Ice World up, if need be. And if the core is destroyed while the energy is being transferred, all the energy (including that which Negauthor has already absorbed) will be transferred into the air. So yeah. Pretty much win-win (well, at the moment anyway).

If you've read the comic, you can pretty much assume that, assuming they destroy the core, Negatve Author will keep the enrgy he drained. Because nothing works as planned in this comic.

It's not any fun if it goes according to plan. It's like in anime where they have to gather whatever objects of power before the bad guys do. They always do really well, but something happens at the end that causes the bad guy to get all of them. It's no fun if the bad guy doesn't get them.

Ah, but what you have to remember is that we DID that part of the storyline already. They're in the Ice World, aren't they? So it could go according to plan here. Of course, I could always be an ass and make things even worse for them too. Who knows?
