And now we know what Spectre got permission for.

Incidentally, this seems as good a place as any to clear some things up about the Authors and their strengths and "goodnesses".

First off, I don't consider myself evil, but I don't consider myself pure good either. Author's not supposed to be viewed as more good or more evil, he's just a regular human... With godly powers. If you really wannt nitpick Author's "goodness", he's about as good as any other person. He's not a serial killer or anything, and he's obviously willing to fight for both his creations and for the good of the world. His "jerkiness" simply comes from the way he chooses to express affection towards his creations (by picking on them), or a general need for a good laugh.

And if you really stop and think about it too much, you could get into a whole philosophical debate about the innate goodness/evil of humanity, considering that Spectre is probably the weakest of the three, and Author seems more of a jerk, blah blah blah. I prefer to think of it like this: being evil makes it much easier for a being to come to power, because that being is willing and able to do more to attain the power. Hence, Negative beats out Spectre. But both Spectre and Negative are less "human", if you will, than Author is. You can't really attain power without both goodness and evil inside you; you need to be able to at least somewhat understand both sides of the field; so Author still wins out in the end.

Here's the way I see it. (Note: for the purposes of this discussion, < means a large difference, and ~ means a slight one)

Cereal characters < Spectre ~ Negative ~ Author < Ascended Negative < Positive Author

Think of it like this. Let's say that the cereal characters have a power level of, oh, I don't know, 2000. And Spectre, Negative, and Author all have about 5000 (maybe like, 4990, 5000, and 5010 or something. It doesn't really matter). So when Negative absorbed the cereal characters, his power level became 2000 + 5000, or 7000. Much stronger than either of the other two Authors. However, when Author fused with Spectre, his power level became 5000 + 5000, or 10000. Much stronger than Ascended Negative. Get it?

By this, we see that Positive Author was WAAAAAY more powerful than Negative Author. So why did they look evenly matched? Simple. Author wanted to play the death prank, so he made it look as though they were evenly matched, and ejected Spectre himself at the end. 'Cause, as we've established, he's a jerk.

And yes, this does make Positive Author's power level over nine thousand.

Y'know, as soon as you mentioned that there was a true author and that the comic authors could talk with him, I knew that's what you were taling about
